SPF驗證是瑞士針對太陽能產品協力廠商進行檢測驗證的機構，也是歐盟互相承認且著名的太陽熱水器產品檢測實驗室，在國際上享有很高的聲望，為了出口歐洲可首選在該實驗室進行檢測，該實驗室為非營利性質但按商務活動操作性質的研究所。
(1) SPF驗證測試共分四大部分:
熱性能檢測：每平方米熱水器日得熱量，系統熱損失，熱效率。
安全性能檢測：防風雪、防雨、防凍，電器安全，系統承壓，過熱保護。
外觀品質：美觀度、無劃痕、無明顯瑕疵。
關鍵部件品質：太陽能熱水器符合 EN12975要求，儲水箱承壓能力，系統管路保溫狀況，電器裝置齊備安全。
(2) 除了太陽能熱水器品質檢測外，還能對太陽能透明蓋板的透過率，塗層吸收率，發射率的進行測試，特別是印有SPF的品質標示玻璃及矽膠，是品質保證 。
對每台太陽能熱水器在 EN12976標準規定的日照強度和環境溫度條件下所測得的檢驗結果，出具帶有 SPF 品質標識的檢測報告。

(3) 熱水器吸熱塗層SPF驗證：
熱水器的關鍵部件就是吸收體，特別是吸收塗層。塗層的品質由兩個參數確定：光學性質（吸收率/發射率）及耐久性。
(4) 熱水器保溫材料SPF驗證
保溫材料是好的熱水器的一個關鍵元件。除了它的絕熱性能外，保溫材料應滿足非常高的要求，遠遠超出預期的“正常”的絕熱。一個關鍵問題就是粘合劑的除氣：絕熱材料的除氣常常是熱水器測試不通過的主要原因之一。
保熱材料一般包括粘合劑和其他化學物。現在的熱水器溫度很容易就升至200°C左右。在這樣的高溫下，物質分解將導致沉積物沉積在蓋板上。SPF針對熱水器的保溫材料提供特殊的驗證計畫：保溫材料要經受控制加熱並且允許除氣。目測沉積物並分級。玻璃使用的保溫材料除氣也要接受光譜分析。
(5) 太陽能玻璃SPF驗證
玻璃蓋板是一個高效的熱水器的最重要的元件。基本上，蓋板用化學成分較純的特殊的太陽能玻璃製成。這個特性使它有可能達到一個相對普通玻璃較高的光透射率。好的太陽能玻璃與通常的窗戶玻璃是很難以肉眼來區分的。如果不採用太陽能玻璃蓋板，熱水器的效率可能會因此降低幾個百分點。光透射率的正確測定非常昂貴並且需要特殊的分光計、感測器及大量的經驗，SPF可提供必要的設備來完成這個測定。
SPF測試也提供了特別適合太陽能玻璃的驗證計畫。這項驗證特別為玻璃和熱水器製造商所設：
玻璃製造商：
SPF的太陽能玻璃驗證在全球範圍內被認可。全球範圍內許多的製造商（太陽能熱水器和光伏組件製造商）依賴SPF驗證。
熱水器製造商：
熱水器製造商必須能夠依賴玻璃品質。SPF證書是品質保證協議的關鍵要求，常常作為製造商技術參數的組成部分，參照玻璃也可被提交測試，相關測試標準為：EN 12975,EN 12150-1 和 EN 572-5。
所有類型之太陽熱水器solar water heater
如果測試均符合要求, 則會根據測試的玻璃效率數值決定其等級（共四個等級）， 並頒發SPF證書，SPF驗證所需時間6周左右，證書有效期為三年。
