消費者有權獲得足夠的工業與生物循環材料性質資訊，因此搖籃到搖籃驗證依據產品、生產及消費供應鏈、使用後的回收狀況，作為產品品質管理的手段，提供給消費者關於產品環境友善度的最直接資訊。因此為了鼓勵創新的綠色設計，使大眾能輕易辨識具搖籃到搖籃概念的產品，搖籃到搖籃驗證制度因應而生，此驗證的目的在刺激創新，而非侷限產品的可能性。
驗證的標準包括：材料的安全性、材料的循環再利用性、能源的使用與碳管理、水資源的管理及企業社會責任的實施等5大面向，藉以評估與審核產品是否符合搖籃到搖籃®設計理念。而驗證的評估範圍則包括：材料、製程及成品等，每兩年需重新驗證，以確保產品年年符合搖籃到搖籃®的標準。

只要可達到生物循環或工業循環的材料、成品，不設定特別產品類別。
搖籃到搖籃驗證標章由布朗嘉及麥唐諾結合彼此專長所成立的MBDC公司（McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry）版權所有。申請驗證者需透過美國MBDC或德國EPEA申請驗證，並由美國Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute稽核及發證，給予基本（Basic）、青銅級(Bronze)、銀級（Silver）、金級（Gold）及白金級（Platinum）等5個等級的驗證，自2013年起使用V3.0版本。
通過驗證的產品代表可達到工業或生物循環，減少能資源之浪費，同時可做為產品宣傳之亮點，提升企業環保形象。
