基本資料

由美國環保署所支持贊助的半官方性的水意識計畫，主要是根據美國淨水法案(Clean Water Act)及安全飲用水法案(Safe Drinking Water Act)相關條文推動。計畫的目的在藉由提升省水產品或服務之市場，以保護國家水資源。本計畫宣揚人們只需購買附有標章的省水產品，無須改變生活習慣，即可以節省大量水資源。水意識計畫所推行的標章為水意識標章，省水產品若欲具有水意識標章，須先與環保署簽署夥伴合約(Partnership Agreement)，第二步驟為產品須符合環保署之特定規範。

規範內容

第三方驗證機構依ISO / IEC Guide 65產品的驗證辦法，確認是否符合水意識標章的標準。

適用產品

  1. 家庭衛浴設備home bathroom equipment：包括水箱式馬桶water tank-type toilet、水龍頭faucet、蓮蓬頭shower head及陽離子交換軟水機cation exchange water softener。
  2. 花圃澆灌服務flower garden irrigation services：包括澆灌服務watering services、控制技術control technology與滴灌系統drip irrigation systems，如隨天氣調整的土壤濕度控制器weather adjustment of the soil moisture controller、景觀澆灌灑水器landscape watering sprinkler。
  3. 商業及公共用水設備commercial and public water equipment：包括小便器urinal、預沖洗潤濕噴灑閥（PRVs）pre-rinse wetting spray valve、沖水凡而馬桶flushing and toilet、蒸汽滅菌器steam sterilizer。

驗證申請流程

  1. 製造商、美國環保署、驗證機構，簽署製造商夥伴合約
  2. 產品設計製造為符合WaterSense規範之產品
  3. 向驗證機構提出產品測試申請
  4. 驗證機構進行測試，通過測試則授權標章使用
  5. 廠商進行產品標示水意識標章
  6. 產品至WaterSense標章產品網路登錄

驗證單位

所有產品驗證機構必須經過資格認證，以驗證產品符合水意識計畫產品驗證制度的水意識計畫標籤。

驗證費用

申請驗證免費，但是產品需進行測試會衍生相關費用，需依測試廠商評估報價。

取得效益

獲得標章的產品代表其省水效果比同類型的傳統產品達百分之20以上，不但節省水資源，也節省水費。在美國聯邦政府各項法規涵蓋之綠色採購規定中，WaterSense產品是政府機構應優先採購之綠色產品，也是各地方政府在推動節水政策時，民眾購買補助的認可標章。
