全球回收標準（GRS）是由管制聯盟（CU）原創於2008 年，並於2011年1月1日起將所有權轉移給紡織交易協會。此標準適用於希望擁有描述再生原料在其最終產品中含量聲明的公司。GRS 標準基於對受驗證成品的追蹤與追溯的原則，同時包含了各行業均適用的環境和社會責任相關要求。隨著標準的發展或將選擇引入交易證書系統，能為產業供應鏈提供較好的監視和控制機制，進而確保受驗證產品的完整性。全球回收標準是為加入GRS 驗證體系的申請者而設計的，申請者可以是交易和/或生產回收品（成品或者半成品），並準備加入GRS 驗證體系的公司。驗證產品範圍不僅僅局限於紡織品，如果該公司將成品的生產全部或者部分外包，則相關生產單位也必須遵守GRS 標準。
要獲得GRS驗證，產品至少需含有20%的原材料是由回收纖維組成，並且是100%無污染的。回收纖維還應清楚注明消費前廢料或消費後廢料，以及消費前與消費後二者在回收纖維中所占比例。回收纖維含量最高的是金級，要求產品含有95%~100%的回收材料；銀級要求產品含有70%~95%的回收材料；銅級產品回收材料的含量不低於30%。除了對原料之規定外，對企業社會責任、生產製程中污染防制與處理、以及化學品限制等均加強規範。
適用於任何含有20％或更多回收成分的產品。
任何GRS適用類別產品之原料供應商、製造商、與進口商皆可以提出GRS驗證申請。其驗證流程包括：
案件之主導稽核員應決定正式之稽核計劃，並於正式稽核至少7個工作天前將稽核計畫送交被稽核業者之聯絡人，稽核計畫應包含：稽核標的與目的、申請驗證範圍、以及稽核時間地點。
若稽核過程發現不符合事項，主導稽核員應製作不符合事項報告，敘明事實與相關之GRS標準、不符合事項之嚴重性、與矯正預防措施。業者應執行適當之矯正預防措施，並知會驗證機構，若業者未能完成此改善或未通知驗證機構，則本案自動終止。
對於已執行矯正預防措之之案件，驗證機構視不符合事項之嚴重性與矯正預防狀況，可以重新安排現場查核，或直接接受改善結果，但無論何種狀況，此一不符合事項都會在第一次追蹤查核時再次確認。
進行產品標示：通過驗證之產品可以通過驗證之產品應予標示，標示時應包含產品之再生料摻配率、驗證編號、與驗證機構名稱。
Control Union、Environmental and Ethical Certification、財團法人紡織產業綜合研究所
驗證機構會視案件狀況提出報價。以國內一般紡織品貿易商型態申請結構而言，會包括：持證者 (布料貿易商)、織廠、染廠等共3單位廠域結構，其驗證費用（含註冊費）約8000多美元(台幣約25萬)。另有稽核員差旅費，則視出差實際機票購買、住宿及執行天數發生費用而定，一般為USD$500~800左右(事後開立發票跟受驗證廠商收款)。
註冊費部分，持證者為 USD$300、織廠 USD$200、染廠 USD$200。
除了可向客戶提出含有回收成份之證明外，另由於此驗證內容還包括對企業社會責任、生產製程中污染防制與處理、以及化學品限制之要求，獲得驗證可作為優良企業之象徵，可提昇公司企業形象，爭取業績。
